Runs, Fun, and Food Trucks

Happy Memorial Day weekend, Evansville! There’s plenty to do with runs, Downtown shopping, plane rides, and a food truck festival. This weekend is the perfect opportunity to get out and see what our city has to offer.

2021 Run Victoria

7:45 a.m. May 29
Victoria National Golf Course, 2000 Victoria National Blvd. Newburgh, Indiana

Spend your weekend on the beautiful back nine at Victoria National Golf Course for Run Victoria, which will include a 5K and the Cook Orthodontics’ Kids Dash race for kids. The run is family-friendly, kid-friendly, and stroller-friendly.

Spring Small Business Saturday 

9 a.m. May 29
Downtown Evansville

The Downtown Evansville Economic Improvement District will host its second annual Spring Small Business Saturday. Enjoy live music along Main Street as you shop and dine Downtown. The EID will distribute maps and Shop Downtown bags. Downtown restaurants will be open, and local food trucks Bruce Li and QB’s BBQ will also be on hand to refuel hungry shoppers.

Evansville Wartime Museum’s Fourth Anniversary Celebration

Evansville Wartime Museum, 7503 Petersburg Road

The Evansville Wartime Museum will celebrate the fourth anniversary of its opening this weekend with plane tours and rides. On May 29, paid visitors to the museum will be able to ride in private planes piloted by local Evansville residents for a donation of $75 to $100 per person. D Company, 334th Infantry Regiment, 84th Infantry Division members from Indiana and Kentucky will also be on site as World War II re-enactors. On May 30, Evansville’s own P-47 — recently christened Hoosier Spirit II — will be rolled out of the museum for an engine run on the tarmac south of the museum. Paid visitors can watch while the engine runs for the first time since arriving in Evansville last September.

Fourth Evansville Food Truck Festival

Indulge in the area’s top food trucks and experience a wide range of culinary tastes, from American comfort to seafood, barbecue, desserts, and more. Meet new trucks and try new flavors — it’s the who’s who of the Midwest food truck scene. Live performances include Angel Rhodes, Lindsay James Williams, GlasTone, Zion Reggae, El Mero Mero Vdj, Jimmy DeTalente, and the Electric Revival.

Sixth Evansville Memorial Day Run

7 a.m. May 31
Garvin Park, 1600 N. Main Street

Join the runners at the sixth Evansville Memorial Day Run as they honor those who gave all for Americans’ freedom. The run is open to anyone who would like to become active with walking, jogging, or running. Race options include a 5K run, 5K walk, 10K run, and 10K walk.

Journey for a Cause

9 a.m. June 1
Dress Plaza, Evansville riverfront

Join 21-year-old Carmel, Indiana, resident Eddie Gill as he sets sail to promote diversity and inclusion in boating, fishing, and outdoor activities. His 10-day voyage launches in Evansville and will take Eddie and his crew along the Ohio River and down the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway to the Gulf of Mexico. Well-wishers can attend a fishing demonstration and educational activity until 9:25 a.m. at Dress Plaza along the riverfront, and then see off the Journey For a Cause team at 10 a.m.
