Scary Seconds

Ghost Quesadilla's Buffalo steak bites are breaded and fried chunks of sirloin steak tossed in buffalo sauce.

The quesadillas are hot, the tacos are fresh, and the burritos are rich at Ghost Quesadilla’s newest location on Evansville’s West Side.

Opened on Jan. 10 at 5501 Pearl Drive, Ghost Quesadilla is bringing its classic menu items — such as its made-to-order quesadillas and corn-shelled street tacos — and adding new items to satisfy the West Side crowd.

“It’s been a long road to get this place open,” says owner Ryan London. “We had been planning this for over a year now, and the obstacles and supply chain issues from the pandemic really slowed us down, but we’re excited to have it open now and have a few new things available at this location.”

Unlike its original location in Newburgh, Indiana, the new restaurant and sports bar is full service and will not have counter ordering. Children will be allowed in until 8 p.m., when entry will switch to customers 21 years or older. Hoping to attract a late-night crowd from the students at nearby University of Southern Indiana, London says the location will be open until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.

The Mexican-American eatery’s menu is filled with unique, original items such as a spicy peanut butter quesadilla filled with fried chicken, jalapeño peppers, and peanut butter, and spicy honey and Buffalo steak bites featuring breaded and fried chunks of sirloin steak tossed in buffalo sauce.

Ghost Quesadilla West has revolving lunch specials Monday-Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with tacos, chimichangas, small quesadillas, chicken on the beach, and boneless wings each available for $6.99 on different days. From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Ghost also has happy hour specials for $4.99 each on hand-breaded mozzarella sticks, jalapeño popper rolls, southwest eggs rolls, and boneless wings.

Along with an expanded kids’ menu, the new food selections also feature products from local caterer Miller’s Barbecue, such as the Miller’s Burrito stuffed with smoked pork, mac n’ cheese, and hash browns, and the Miller’s Quesadilla with smoked pulled pork, mac n’ cheese, jalapenos, red onion, and cheddar cheese.
