Unretirement

Linda White accepts position at Methodist Hospital

“Once health care is in your blood, it just stays there and it percolates,” says Linda E. White, former Deacones Health System president CEO. Evansville Business talked with White and others about her long career for the story “Legendary Linda” in the February/March 2017 issue. Deaconess had just announced White would be retiring from the health system but act as executive director of the Deaconess Foundation for one year before her full retirement.

Retirement didn’t seem to truly happen — in fact, White has taken the path of “unretirement.” In September 2019, the board of directors for Methodist Health in Henderson, Kentucky, approached her about accepting the position of CEO for the hospital. White accepted and assumed the job officially on Oct. 1.

“As you can imagine health care, and any profession, is about adding value, making a difference, adding to the team spirit, and guiding a team to reach goals,” says White. “The goal is to add value to health care.”

Methodist Health includes hospitals in Henderson and Morganfield, Kentucky, and ambulatory sites in several Kentucky areas. Methodist Health also is an affiliate of Deaconess Health. White says she looks forward to Methodist growing while staying focused on patients and remaining a health network serving patients locally.

“There is no secret that Methodist Health is ready, willing, and able to care for more patients,” she says. “We want to make it known we are here to serve.”
