Evansville on the Ohio

Steamboat transportation has allowed Evansville to prosper through consumer trade, but the waters of the Ohio River have created disaster through major flooding that occurred in 1884, 1913, and most memorably, the flood of 1937 — the largest natural disaster in the city’s history. Artwork in the “Evansville on the Ohio” exhibition will celebrate the 200th anniversary of the first steamboat to travel on western waterways, and mark the 75th anniversary of the 1937 flood. 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Wed.-Fri., 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays, noon-5 p.m. Sundays.
