The Evansville Museum of Arts, History and Science is featuring an exhibit by Gary Zuercher, award winning photographer and author of 'The Glow of Paris: The Bridges of Paris, from Aug. 25 through Nov. 7. The 'Glow of Paris' exhibition features 86 silver gelatin, black and white photographs from the book accompanied by maps showing the Seine River bridge locations, discussions of the bridge histories, story panels, a four-minute video and cell phone audio tour through the exhibit.

In 2012, Lyles Station Historic School & Museum received a grant from the Old National Bank Foundation to assemble two trunks containing books and hands on items focused on educating students about slavery and the Civil War. Those trunks have been lent out, free of charge, to many teachers, traveled many miles and continue to help educate children today.

This 21 and over series is a unique and intimate musical event which allows attendees to enjoy and create the perfect pairing to delight the senses during this innovative experience. The musical performance will include works by Mozart, Bach, Rimsky-Korsakov, Bernstein, Mancini, and more. Dustry Barn Distillery will have a variety of fine bourbon selections and their staff will guide the tasting while explaining several facets of each selection. Board & Wheel will be available with facorites to purchase, and one or more food trucks will offer a variety of food to attendees.

The Evansville Wartime Museum will be holding a Halloween Bash on Oct 31 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. There will be a scavenger hunt for children with skeletons in WWII costumes pointing to where the answers can be found. Treats will be given to children as they exit the museum. Face painting will also be available. Pricing will be free for children 5 and under, $5.00 for children 6-12, and $11 for everyone older than 12. There must be at least one adult for every three children in attendance.

This event coincides with the return of many of Downtown Evansville's signature holiday decorations at the archway at Main and Second Streets, as well as a new holiday-themed installation, The Christmas Tree Lot, in front of Zuki Downtown and River Kitty Cat Café. Aurora’s event asks 10 individuals from the community, including Executive Director Zac Heronemus, to live on the streets as a person experiencing homelessness for 48 hours. The immersive experience event will serve as an educational tool, raising awareness in the community about the homeless population that Aurora serves. During these 48 hours, each individual will work within their sphere of influence to raise funds.

USI Theatre continues its 2021-2022 live season with a Christmas classic: A Christmas Carol. This adaptation of Charles Dickens’ beloved story was written and will be directed by USI’s own Elliot Wasserman. A quartet of ghosts take the stage to deliver old Ebenezer Scrooge a transformative lesson about charity, love and forgiveness on the eve of the holiday that encourages all of us to take stock of ourselves and know that true blessings in this life are meant to be shared.

The Tri-State will have a front row seat the morning of Nov. 19, when a partial lunar eclipse takes place overhead. The eclipse, which gets underway on the 19th at 1:18 a.m., takes place during the full moon and will be visible across North America. Lunar eclipses are surprisingly easy to view. Sky watchers should direct their attention at the moon between 1:18 a.m. and 4:47 a.m.
