The People Behind the Magazine…

Kristen K. Tucker    Editor & Publisher

Kristen K. Tucker formed Tucker Publishing Group along with her husband Todd in September 1999 and published the first issue of Evansville Living in March 2000.

Kristen, publisher and editor of Evansville Living, holds a bachelor’s degree in public relations and English from Western Kentucky University and a master’s degree in liberal studies from the University of Southern Indiana.

Kristen has recently served on the board of directors of The Catholic Foundation of Evansville, the Board of Advisors for the IU Medical School Evansville, and the Indiana Landmarks. In 2007, she helped found the Women’s Fund of Vanderburgh County. She also is a member of the 120-year-old Social Literary Club. Kristen is the 2003 Athena Award recipient and the 2006 recipient of the Indiana Commission for Women’s Torchbearer Award. Tucker Publishing Group magazines have won dozens of awards through the years from the City & Regional Magazine Association, the Advertising Federation of Evansville, the Evansville Design Group, and the Indiana Society of Professional Journalists.

A native of Des Moines, Iowa, Kristen moved with her family to Evansville, her father’s hometown, in 1971. She attended Caze Elementary School, and Castle Jr. and Castle Sr. High Schools in Newburgh, Indiana. Kristen and Todd have two sons, Maxwell, who works in digital marketing in Indianapolis, and Jackson, a senior at the University of Louisville. Kristen enjoys walking, travel, Pilates, and reading.


Todd A. Tucker    President

Todd A. Tucker is a native of Evansville. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Studies from the University of Evansville, 1994. He also has a Master of Science degree in Management from Oakland City University and attended classes at Indiana University Kelley School of Business.

Todd formed Tucker Publishing Group with his wife Kristen when he left a career in surgical sales to begin publishing Evansville Living in 2000. Today Todd serves as President of the company that publishes Evansville Living, Evansville Business, and numerous custom magazines and projects.

Todd has served on the board of directors for the Ronald McDonald House Charities, Youth First, University of Southern Indiana School of Business, the First Marketing Chair of Economic Development Coalition of Southwestern Indiana, and is past chairman of the board of Keep Evansville Beautiful. He currently serves on the board of directors of Wesselman Woods Nature Preserve, Keep Evansville Beautiful, and University of Evansville Alumnae Association. He is active in numerous civic and philanthropic organizations. Todd has been a weekly contributor on local television news programs and served as an annual guest lecturer on entrepreneurship at the University of Evansville. He also spent two terms on the national board of directors for the City and Regional Magazine Association.

Todd and his wife Kristen live in Evansville and have two children, Maxwell, 25, a graduate of Butler University, and Jackson, 22, a student at University of Louisville. Todd is an avid triathlete who has completed over 20 marathons and numerous triathlons as well as five Ironman events, and looks forward to “aging up.”

He has a tremendous passion for bad drumming and has coached more youth sports teams than he can count. He and his family are members of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.


Laura Mathis    Creative Director

Laura Mathis joined Tucker Publishing Group as a freelance art director during the magazine’s inception in 1999. She joined the staff as a full time art director and later was promoted to creative director. She received her bachelor’s degree in advertising from Western Kentucky University.

Laura left for a bank marketing position in 2014, and returned to work at Tucker Publishing Group in 2017. Since her return, she has served as an art director, sales and advertising coordinator, and creative director.

Laura lives in Owensboro, Kentucky, with her sports writer husband, Mark. She enjoys gardening, interior design, and traveling to visit their two adult daughters: Natalie, who lives in Montgomery, AL, and Lillie, who lives in New York, NY.


Jodi Keen   Managing Editor

Jodi Keen joined Tucker Publishing Group in April 2021 as Managing Editor. She previously served as the special publications editor for the Messenger-Inquirer newspaper in Owensboro, Kentucky.

A native of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Jodi is a 2010 Murray State University journalism graduate. After college, she spent two and half years in Vienna, Austria, first as an au pair, and then as the publisher’s assistant and events editor for The Vienna Review, a monthly English-language newspaper.

Jodi lives on Evansville’s East Side and enjoys reading, walking, and exploring Evansville. She also serves on the board of directors for Foster Care In the The U.S.


John Martin    Senior Writer

John Martin joined Tucker Publishing Group in January 2023 as a senior writer after more than two decades covering a variety of beats for the Evansville Courier & Press. He previously worked for newspapers in Owensboro and Bowling Green, Kentucky.

The Bowling Green native and Western Kentucky University graduate has a daughter, Caroline, who is in college at IUPUI in Indianapolis. John enjoys cheering for his beloved Cincinnati Reds, as well as Evansville’s college and pro sports teams. A classic rock fan, you can also find John in the city’s music venues, local restaurants, and coffee shops. John is a member of the VOICES Inc. Board of Directors and volunteers as a student mentor at Glenwood Leadership Academy.


Maggie Valenti    Staff Writer

Maggie Valenti joined Tucker Publishing Group in September 2022 as a staff writer. She most recently was a business reporter for the International Business Times in New York City.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in English in May 2020 from Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. A Connecticut native, Maggie rode horses for 15 years and has hunt seat equestrian competition experience on the East Coast.


Jessica L. Hoffman    Senior Account Executive

Jessica L. Hoffman joined Tucker Publishing Group in December 2001 as advertising coordinator after receiving her bachelor’s degree in advertising from the University of Southern Indiana. She now serves as a senior account executive.

Prior to graduation, Jessica completed an internship with Tucker Publishing Group, as well as advertising internships with SMG Evansville and WNIN Channel 9.

Jessica grew up out in the country in Posey County, Indiana and graduated from North Posey High School. She enjoys running the YMCA’s Half Marathon, reading, traveling, going to concerts, and spending time with her husband Jason and daughter Helena.


Jennifer Rhoades    Senior Account Executive

Jennifer Rhoades joined Tucker Publishing Group in December 2002 as an advertising coordinator. She was promoted to marketing manager in 2005 and became an account executive in May 2010.

Jennifer received her bachelor’s degree in advertising from the University of Southern Indiana.

Jennifer grew up in Posey County. She married John Rhoades, of Evansville, in September 2003, and they reside in Newburgh, Indiana. They have a daughter, Hayden, and she keeps the family busy with her figure skating competitions and dance classes. In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys reading attending concerts, running, CycleBar sessions, and spending time with family and friends.


Logen Sitzman Sales and Marketing Coordinator

Logen Sitzman joined Tucker Publishing Group in February 2022 as a sales and marketing coordinator. An Evansville native, he graduated from Central High School in 2015. He graduated from the University of Evansville in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in communications.

Logen resides downtown and enjoys traveling, watching sports, golfing, and hanging out with friends in his free time.


Hadley Mitchell Digital Marketing Coordinator

Hadley Mitchell joined Tucker Publishing Group in June 2023 as an extern. She currently serves as the digital marketing coordinator. Hadley graduated from Georgetown College in May 2023 with a bachelors degree in communications and media studies and was a member of the cross country and track team.

She grew up in Providence, Kentucky, but Evansville has always been like a second home. In her spare time, Hadley enjoys traveling, going to coffee shops, and vintage shopping.


Maliah White Graphic Designer

Maliah White joined Tucker Publishing Group in January 2024 as a graphic designer. The Evansville native and F.J. Reitz High School graduate earned a double Bachelor of Arts in art and public relations and advertising from the University of Southern Indiana in December 2023. While at USI, Maliah was a visual editor of The Shield newspaper, layout designer of student magazine Candid, and president of USI’s art club and USI’s chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America.

In her free time, Maliah enjoys journaling, listening to music, and spending time with her cat, Tokki.
