Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra delivers free concert with “Penelope”


The Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra delivers a free musical performance about the trauma of war with, Penelope on Thursday, May 20, at City View at Sterling Square, located at 210 N Fulton Avenue, Evansville at 7 PM. The one-hour event is free and open to the public and features Soprano Alejandra Martinez.

Inspired by Homer’s epic poem, the Odyssey, Penelope, written by American composer Sarah Kirkland Snider, is a meditation on memory, identity, and what it means to come home. This work will be performed by the Evansville Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra and soloist telling the story how a woman’s husband appears at her door after an absence of twenty years, suffering from brain damage.
