"Sandra’s Story," a new play by retired Evansville Courier & Press columnist Garret Mathews, will open Friday, March 18 at Studio 321 in Evansville.
The play is a two-act drama/comedy that examines urban poverty through the eyes of a precocious 10-year-old girl. Only one child in Sandra’s fifth-grade class does not qualify for the free-lunch program. Few caregivers graduated high school. Many have problems with drugs and alcohol.
Show dates are 7 p.m. March 18-19 and 24-26, and 2 p.m. March 20.
Evansville-area agencies that work with disadvantages young people have been invited to set up informational booths in the theater lobby.
