An illustrated lecture which deals with how the U.S. Army (expanding from 190k in 1939 to 8.3 million in 1944) was raised, who served, how and why those assigned to combat units were there, and how they performed. This lecture is based on Professor Wilson’s research on the selection and training of U.S. ground combat troops in WWII.
