Meet Dallas Carter

Welcome to our staff Q&A! We plan to periodically introduce you to members of the Tucker Publishing Group team via a quick Q&A about us. Who has worked at TPG the longest? What past issues of Evansville Living are our favorites? Who has the fiercest high school rivalry in the office? Keep an eye trained here to find out!

This week, meet Staff Writer Dallas Carter, who joined Tucker Publishing Group in September 2020. A native of St. Louis, she is a 2020 graduate of the University of Evansville and holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and multimedia.

Why did you decide to join Tucker Publishing Group?

I was a TPG editorial intern from October 2019 to May 2020. While my internship ended in the middle of a COVID-19-related stay-at-home mandate, I continued to freelance for Evansville Living throughout the summer of 2020. TPG offered me the opportunity to put my skills to a real-world test in a familiar environment with a fantastic team.

What has been your favorite magazine issue that TPG has published?

Forever indecisive, I have two favorite issues, including one from my intern days. The March/April 2020 issue of Evansville Living included our “Cool Kids” feature about 10 local children who were involved in stand-out projects and hobbies. From Castle High School robotics to a 9-year-old aspiring chess grandmaster, these kids inspired me and made for some entertaining interviews.

My other favorite is the February/March 2021 issue of Evansville Business. My first solo feature, “Making Waves,” was a look back at Evansville’s rich radio history. As a Tri-State transplant, the story opened my eyes to the vast industries and history hidden in the modern bones of the River City that were just waiting to be uncovered.

If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go, and why?

I’ve had the privilege to do a lot of traveling in the last several years, but I’d still like to make my way to Greece. I’m a big mythology buff, and it’d be incredible to see the sites behind the stories and snag some time at the picturesque beaches while I’m there.

What life experience would you choose to relive, and why?

Probably a concert. I’ve recently seen Harry Styles’ Love on Tour, but also Green Day and Robert Plant and the Band of Joy several years ago. There is always a big build up for shows, and then they go by so fast!
