Subscriber of the Issue: Walter Wiandt

Walter Wiandt enjoys introducing Hoosiers up north his hometown

Walter Wiandt is enjoying life on opposite ends of Indiana. The graduate of Central High School and Purdue University splits time between Evansville and Shipshewana since retiring from Mead Johnson Nutrition.

“A lot of people in Evansville have never heard of Shipshewana,” Wiandt says. “What I tell them is we are as close to Michigan as Evansville is to Kentucky. And a lot of people in Shipshewana don’t know about Evansville.”

While back in the River City, Wiandt catches up with a pair of former coworkers, and that’s where Evansville Living’s dining guide becomes indispensable. The trio chooses a restaurant starting with the next letter of the alphabet. They are on their second journey from A to Z; their recent selection for the letter “r” was Rooster’s Den in Newburgh.

Wiandt also flips to the magazine’s stories about local homes — he looked forward to the May/June issue’s Most Beautiful Homes feature. “I’ve taken it for several years and enjoy getting the new editions, and seeing Evansville Business, too,” he says.
