A spot along Franklin Street — that was the goal for Tracy Watson six years ago when she opened up her home décor shop, Tracy’s (formerly Tracy’s Attic). Three years later, she finally realized her wish, moving her shop to 2233 W. Franklin St., and today her dream continues as her storefront has expanded.
“It’s really fun to be here on Franklin Street and experience all the things going on around us,” says Watson. “We were so excited to have this opportunity to add to our growth, to be able to offer more pieces and gifts.”
In the summer of 2019, Watson began to expand in the new open space next door, opening to the public in October. While home furnishings, wall décor, and unique gifts have always been available at the store, more square footage has allowed for newer product lines, a section of baby items, clothing, and larger furniture pieces. Watson and her daughter Jennifer look at products that fit their tastes and the price points of their customer base.
“I really try to have a boutique that has different items you can’t find in other stores,” she says.
Her store just isn’t about products, however. She also has a design aspect of her store where she offers customers her interior design knowledge in all facets. Watson can assist customers in something as small as picking out paint colors or arranging items in a room to crafting custom window treatments and designing an entire home space.
“I love making customers happy — they respond in such good ways,” she says. “That’s a really good feeling.”
Above all, Watson and her daughter value the relationships with their customers — both new and repeats — the most. The two strive to know their customers’ names and tastes, which allows them to help make decisions, whether it is for a gift or a new room design.
“That one-on-one customer service is really important to us,” says Watson. “We like to make people happy with the choices we help them with.”
