Day Drinkin’

Happy February, Evansville! Or should we say happy four layers of pants, three parkas, two pairs of gloves, and a giant fuzzy hat season? It may be cold outside, but when we closed our eyes and took a sip of the newest draft on tap at Myriad Brewing Company (101 S.E. First St.) we were transported to the warm, sunny days of summer we miss so much.

The Day Drink pilsner debuted on Jan. 26 and will be available while supplies last. Only four percent ABV, the light beer lives up to its name — the perfect beverage for lunch or a mid-day meeting.

I am the first to admit my relationship with beer needs improvement, but the crisp, refined flavors of Day Drink were perfect for my light palette or someone new to beer. It also could be enjoyed by veteran drinkers looking for a refreshing twist in their normal selections. The industry term for this kind of beer is "sessionable" — drinks that are light and allow for a few to be consumed in one sitting.

“Day Drink has a nice crisp flavor and I’d love to try it paired up with a juicy burger,” says Photographer Zach Straw. “It was refreshing.”

Only half a percent lighter than the 812 Cream Ale, Day Drink helps balance Myriad’s current menu, which features a wide range of beers including three of their most popular flavors currently offered in cans.

The 812, Robot Tutu vanilla porter, and Golden Ratio IPA will soon be distributed to local stores in the coming weeks.

Whether you’re craving a day at the beach or need a revitalizing break from your busy day, mask up and grab a pint of Day Drink for $4.75 today!
