Grappling for a Seat

Southwest Indiana’s notorious “Bloody 8th” congressional district has seen more than its fair share of good fights in the last 22 years, ever since the late Democrat Frank McCloskey emerged the winner over Republican challenger Rick McIntyre in a bitterly contested match in 1984. A decade later, McCloskey was one of 34 Democratic incumbents defeated during the 1994 Republican Revolution, which ended 40 years of Democratic dominance in the U.S. House of Representatives.
