Quitting your job, selling your home, and hitting the road full time sounds crazy to most, but it’s the life former Evansville residents Jason and Misty Massey have been living since Oct. 16, 2017. After losing Jason’s 18-year-old son in an automobile accident in June 2014 and feeling unfulfilled with the corporate 8-to-5 grind, they decided to jump on the RV bandwagon.
“We started actually asking ourselves, ‘What’s the worst thing that could happen?’” says Jason. “The answer always was, ‘We have to come back and get regular jobs again.’ So we went for it.”
The couple has visited 26 states so far and shares their travels and Jason’s photos on their blog Meandering Life. Bryce Canyon National Park in southwestern Utah and the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, are some of their favorite sites. While Jason and Misty originally planned to travel for one year, they now have no plans to stop any time soon.
“Getting rid of all of your stuff really is a freeing experience, and we have zero regrets,” says Jason. “Of course, seeing all of the beauty this country has to offer is a huge bonus.”
