For Sale: Lamasco Bar & Grill

Amy Word says she’s putting the West Side tavern on the market

Lamasco Bar & Grill owner Amy Word has announced on social media that she is selling the West Franklin Street business after nearly 15 years of ownership.

The property will be listed by Scott Hyatt with Summit Real Estate. The listed asking price is $1.05 million.

Word’s Facebook post on Sept. 18 cites the time demands of running the business, and she says she will pursue unspecified endeavors in the future.

“Big leaps, take big faith, and at this point, leaping big is kind of my thing,” Word says in the post. “So, I’m jumping off and I can’t wait to see where I fly.”

The social media post mentions only Lamasco Bar & Grill and not Amy’s on Franklin, an upscale restaurant on West Franklin Street that Word also owns.

Word faces a pending felony charge of maintaining a common nuisance, with a trial scheduled for March in a still-undetermined location outside of Vanderburgh County. The charge was filed in August 2022 following an Evansville Police Department investigation of drug traffic in a few West Franklin Street establishments.

In multiple social media posts since her arrest, Word has denied any wrongdoing.

She was elected in 2020 to a four-year term on the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation Board of Trustees but is on an unpaid leave of absence pending the outcome of her case.
