Several evenings of outdoor tunes highlight a lineup of fun activities

Clay Handbuilding Pottery Class

Trivia Night: USA Presidents Fun Facts

Think you have the 411 on America’s 47 presidents? Test it with three rounds of multiple-choice questions at this free, patriotic-themed competition.

Jazz Fest
5 p.m.-midnight July 17, Main Street; 4-10 p.m. July 18, Warehouse 410, 410 Carpenter St.
WNIN’s free event spreads across Downtown and adds a second evening of music. Catch sets by Jon Lutz & The Sleepwalkers, New Harmony Jazz Duo, and more Friday, then head to Warehouse 410 on Saturday for indoor family-friendly activities and more tunes. 

Concert on the Lawn
6-7 p.m. July 17, Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library Oaklyn Branch, 3001 Oaklyn Drive
Darabello performs at this installment of the library’s free summer concert series. Bring your own lawn chairs and snacks. Swing by earlier to celebrate the branch’s renovation from 4-5:30 p.m., featuring a scavenger hunt, oversized games, and refreshments.

Husky Pup Golf Clinic

Children ages 5-14 can learn the art of driving, fairway irons, chipping, and putting from North High School Lady Huskies golf. Admission is $20; sign up by filling out an online form.

Urban Hike: Walnut Street Corridor
9 a.m. July 18, corner of South Rotherwood Avenue and East Walnut Street
Join a group trek along the Walnut Street Corridor at this free Evansville Trails Coalition event.

Flash Day Tattoo Fundraiser
11 a.m. July 18, Crescent City Tattoo, 223 N. Main St.
Get inked up for animals at It Takes A Village No-Kill Rescue. Arm and leg tattoos cost $120, or get a $20 discount if you bring a donation of dog or cat food, toys, paper towels, and other supplies

Pre-Volksfest Kids Day
11 a.m.-1 p.m. July 18, Germania Maennerchor, 916 N. Fulton Ave.
The first 200 young attendees receive free school supplies-stuffed backpacks. Other events at this 12-and-under free event include a pizza lunch from Kipplee’s, petting zoo with animals from Cottonwood Ridge Farm, and tours of an Evansville Fire Department vehicle.

Find live music, adoptable dogs, food vendors, and cool classic autos at this third annual car show.

Keys & Cocktails

Sip craft cocktails or mocktails, dig into charcuterie boxes, pop into the photo booth, and hit the dance floor as Ashton Wolf Dueling Pianos duke it out. Tickets are $25.

What Flies at Night: Mothing with the Mississippians

Guided by entomologist Kevin Wiener of All Bugs Go to Kevin, discover nightlife-loving insects on this after-dark hike. Tickets are $8-$10; bring a flashlight.

Mutts at Myriad: Summerween

Treat your four-legged friend to spooky summer fun involving dog costume contests, treat-or-treat stations, and more. Admission is $10 per dog.

Memo Meetup: Trinket Swap

This edition of the free month gathering is for collectors: Bring and trade tiny treasures, oddities, and charms, and save time for journalism, sketching, and socializing.

Curator Talks: The Declaration of Independence: The Motives, The Moment
Noon, 1 p.m., and 2 p.m. EDT July 18, Lilly Library at Indiana University, 1200 E. Seventh St., Bloomington, Indiana
There are 26 original Dunlap Broadsides, copies of the Declaration of Independence printed the night the Continental Congress declared the American colonies’ independence, still in existence. See one and explore the broader history behind America’s fight for freedom with exhibit curator Erika Dowell. Free admission. The exhibit is on display through Dec. 18. Check the Lily Library website for open hours.
