Laser Light Shows
July 1-9
Evansville Museum of Arts, History and Science, 411 S.E. Riverside Drive
Jam to a choreographed light show set to music by top rock bands, including Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, U2, and Queen. Tickets are $7 for non-members and $5 for members.

cMoe Sand Castle Competition
July 1-30
Koch Family Children’s Museum of Evansville, 22 S.E. Fifth St.
Build a sandcastle at cMoe’s beach, snap a picture, and send it to info@cmoekids.org. (If you need inspiration, sandcastle-building workshops will be held July 17-21 at noon.) Then, vote for your favorite submission by liking a selected sand castle photo on Facebook. The winner will be named in August and receive two guest passes to the museum.

Ellis Park
July 1-Aug. 27
Ellis Park, 3300 Highway 41 N., Henderson, Kentucky
Spend a day watching horse racing at Ellis Park. Special summer events include Heroes Day, Horses and Hope Day, and the Daschund Derby qualifiers and finals in July. Tickets start at $8.

Showplace Cinemas’ Family Film Festival

Evansville-area Showplace Cinemas are hosting a rotation of discount family movie days through July. Bring your family and catch flicks such as “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2,” “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish,” “Mummies,” and “The Secret Life of Pets 2.” Tickets are $1.50 per show.

Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library Summer Events
July 7-Aug. 26
Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library locations
Have fun with fandom trivia on Fridays; concerts on the lawn featuring Art the Dude, Cynthia Murray, Zion, and Scales Jazz Group; Wesselman Woods animal visits; playing with bubbles at Bubblefest; and more at EVPL all summer long.

Gibson County Fair
July 9-15
Gibson County Fairgrounds, 709 N. Embree St., Princeton, Indiana
This week is full of rides, exhibits, tractor pulls, karaoke, motocross races, live music, and more. Daily admission is free until 2 p.m.; after that, tickets costs $8. Children nine and under get in for free all day.

Posey County Fair
July 17-22
Posey County Fairgrounds, 111 Harmony Township Road, New Harmony, Indiana
Rodeo, cornhole tournaments, rides, demo derby, food, and more will make this annual fair fun for the family. General admission is $8 per person and free for children 10 and under.

Warrick County 4-H Fair
July 17-22
Warrick County Fairgrounds, 133 County Road 100 N., Boonville, Indiana
Enjoy games, shows, rides, contests, and more. General admission is $3. Children six and under get in for free.

Vanderburgh County Fair
3-9 p.m. July 24; 8 a.m.-9 p.m. July 25-29
Vanderburgh 4-H Center, 201 E. Boonville-New Harmony Road
This multi-day fair feature motocross, a rodeo, tractor pulls, demolition derby, and more, plus a concert Wednesday night with Drake Milligan and Dylan Schneider. General admission is $10, while children 9 and under get in for free.

Night Flight
8:30 p.m. July 29
University of Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles Complex, 8600 University Blvd.
Join a four-mile race or walk along USI’s campus roads and nearby Burdette Park trails. Children eight and under can join a half-mile dash. Proceeds benefit USI’s track and cross-country programs. Registration closes at 11:59 p.m. July 28.

Fitness in the Park
Multiple dates and locations throughout July
The Tri-State Athletic Club, BFit Gym + Fitness, YMCA of Southwestern Indiana, and City of Evansville Parks and Recreation Department stage different fitness classes every other Saturday. All fitness levels are welcome to join.

Evansville Otters games
Through Sept. 3
Bosse Field, 23 Don Mattingly Way
Bring the family to an Otters baseball game on special nights such as an “A League of Their Own” tribute, Dog Days of Summer, “E” is for Everyone, and more. Tickets start at $6.
