As the new year starts, progress on the Evansville Living Idea Home 2020 kicks into high gear! Framing of the home was completed in late December, which means the project will now start rolling forward with more noticeable development. The excitement of a build is not new for Corey Hirsch, owner of Hirsch Custom Homes and the contractor on the Idea Home project. It’s something he’s been familiar with from a young age.
“I always enjoyed being in the construction industry, always took to liking high-end custom homes,” says Hirsch, who joined his father in construction when he was 15 years old. “I think it’s really rewarding at the end of the project to step back and see how everything comes together.”
Hirsch’s involvement with the Idea Home came after a tour he and Peak Performance Management consultant Glen Miller gave Tucker Publishing Group President Todd Tucker of the Patel home (featured on page 88). The home was near a former Evansville Living Idea Home project and Hirsch was interested about the process of an Idea Home.
“That’s how the whole dialogue started,” says Miller.
This year’s home provides a few challenges for Hirsch. Designed by the homeowner’s cousin in California, Hirsch and his team are translating a beautiful, California-style home to fit into a Midwest build. But it’s a challenge that’s exciting — and with help from the architects, Hirsch says the completed Idea Home will be something unseen before in the Tri-State.
“The openness and feel of the home excites me,” says Hirsch. “And the views. There’s going to be really amazing views of the surrounding lakes when it’s completed.”
