I’m A-Glazed by You

Set your sights on these pastry shops for National Doughnut Day

Name a day as sweet as the first Friday in June. Annually known as National Doughnut Day, lovers of iced, glazed, sprinkled, and jelly-filled confections can fill up on their favorite treats at several area establishments. Here’s where to find your fix this National Doughnut Day.

Donut Bank
10 locations throughout the Evansville area
If you go, try: lemon cake doughnuts
This Evansville chain has served sweet treats to Tri-State customers since 1967. Time-tested menu staples include its iced long johns, twisted tiger tails, cream-filled Bismarcks, and several flavors of donut balls. To sweeten the deal this National Donut Day, Donut Bank is offering one free assorted doughnut per person – no purchase necessary, while supplies last – on June 7.

Parlor Doughnuts
204 Main St. and 301 N. Green River Road
If you go, try: fruit tart, honey lavender, and banana cream pie doughnuts
Evansville’s booming franchise continues to spread its flaky, loaded confections across the U.S., but local diners still can fill up on Parlor’s specialty items at two locals. In addition to regular menu items such as strawberry shortcake, raspberry pistachio, and maple bacon doughnuts, Parlor has rolled out several seasonal flavors and keeps keto, vegan- and gluten-friendly, and dog doughnuts on hand.

Panaderia San Miguel
2004 Washington Ave.
If you go, try: Banderilla (puff pastry with caramelized sugar and optional filling)
This authentic Salvadorian bakery is all about tradition. Select from classic doughnuts, pastries, and sweet breads in its self-serve display case, or seat yourself and order from its breakfast and lunch menus.

Dunkin’
3960 N. First Ave., 850 N. Green River Road, and 848 S. Green River Road
If you go, try: Munchkins Donut Hole Treats
Pair your morning coffee with a seasonally flavored iced doughnut from Dunkin’, such as watermelon burst, cherry blossom, Bavarian kreme, and apple streusel.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts
727 N. Burkhardt Road
If you go, try: Dolly Dazzler Doughnut
Watching freshly glazed doughnuts emerge via the conveyor belt still holds our attention – and hunger. Stop by this national staple for its soft glazed, iced, filled, and cake-like pastries. New to the menu is a collection of Dolly Parton-themed doughnuts, featuring banana puddin’ pie, chocolate crème pie, Peachy Keen cobbler, and a strawberry-flavored Dolly Dazzler.

Donut Bath Bombs
River City Coffee + Goods, 223 Main St.
Think twice before sinking your teeth into these colorful confections – they’re meant for the bath, not your belly. Jazz up the scent of your next soak with these hand-pressed bath treats by Columbus, Indiana’s Garb2ART Cosmetics. Select from Epsom salt and shea butter creations infused with notes of cotton candy, strawberry, birthday cake, Mai Tai, and more.
