Pooches, Plants, and the Philharmonic — oh my!

It’s Thursday! — or as I like to call it, pre-Friday. Are you still searching for fun, local events to fill your weekend? Our mini calendar has got your back. Each week, we hand-pick some of the hottest Tri-State events, so you don’t waste your weekend.

SWIMGA Plant Sale

8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 1
Vanderburgh 4-H Center Auditorium, 201 E. Boonville-New Harmony Road

Join the Southwestern Indiana Master Gardener Association for its annual plant sale — the largest of its kind in the Tri-State. This indoor event at the Vanderburgh 4-H Center Auditorium features more than 10,000 plants, including perennials, flowers, succulents, and vegetables and herbs. Master Gardeners will also be on site to answer questions. This event will adhere to all CDC COVID-19 guidelines.

Run for the Noses

9 a.m. May 1
Evansville State Hospital Grounds, 3400 Lincoln Ave.

Hosted by the Woodmere Dog Park, the first annual Run for The Noses one- or two-mile walk/run is this weekend’s premiere event for canines and their families. Even if you don’t have your own furry best friend, you can rent a pup for the race with a $25 donation to the Vanderburgh Humane Society. Registration ends at 8 a.m. and costs $25 per person. All proceeds go towards building the Woodmere Dog Park on the State Hospital Grounds.

Fantasy Night at the Phil

7 p.m. May 1
Victory Theatre, 600 Main St.

The Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra welcome guests to dress as their favorite character and enjoy an evening of music from famous fantasy movies. Fantasy Night at the Phil will highlight the best songs from “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” “Star Wars,” “Game of Thrones,” and more.
