Meet Max Tucker

Welcome to our staff Q&A! Meet Max Tucker, who joined Tucker Publishing Group, Inc., as Digital Operations Manager in February. An Evansville native and graduate of Reitz Memorial High School, Max studied entrepreneurship and innovation, marketing at Butler University and earned a Bachelor of Science in 2020 and a Master of Business Administration in 2022. At Tucker Publishing Group, he’s coordinating digital sales and content operations across web and social platforms. He’s also working alongside his parents, President Todd Tucker and Vice President Kristen K. Tucker.

Why did you decide to join Tucker Publishing Group?

I joined to support my family’s business while using my skills and interest in marketing. It’s important to me to help grow something meaningful and produce work I’m genuinely proud of.

How has TPG helped you grow in your field?

TPG has been publishing magazines for more than 25 years, so it’s something I’ve been around for most of my life. I grew up seeing the work behind the scenes, but actually starting to work there recently has given me a completely different perspective. It’s been exciting to begin using my own skills while learning more about the publishing and marketing side of the business and contributing to something that’s always been part of my life.

What has been your favorite issue published?

One of my favorite issues that TPG has published is the May/June 2006 issue of Evansville Living, which featured The Voyage wooden roller coaster on the cover. Around the time the issue came out, I had the unique opportunity to be among the first to ride The Voyage with my father at Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari. That experience was unforgettable, and it’s amazing to see that the ride is now considered one of the best roller coasters in the world.

What do you enjoy about working at TPG?

I love the variety of work and the chance to uncover fascinating stories while exploring the rich history of Evansville. What I find most rewarding is learning about the people who shape the city’s character and being part of a team that is passionate, dedicated, and genuinely proud of the work they do.

What are your hobbies?
Skiing, mountain biking, gaming, and cooking. I started cooking at a young age, helping my mother in the kitchen, but I got more into it in college and have continued learning by taking classes, trying new recipes, and watching instructional videos. (Ahead of St. Patrick’s Day, Maxwell recreated Larry “Bubbles” Pollock’s recipe for Irish stew. Give it a read, and a taste — you may think you’re back at The Pub!)

You also enjoy traveling. Where is one place you’d go that you haven’t been to, and why?
I enjoyed going on trips as a child and was always interested in seeing new things. As an adult, I have been fortunate to have visited 16 countries. I’d really like to visit Southeast Asia to experience the ancient architecture, try different cuisines, and meet people with diverse backgrounds and life experiences.
