This Weekend: Mar. 2-5

March Madness comes to town with the Ohio Valley Conference Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championship presented by United Fidelity Bank. Even with four days of college hoops in Downtown Evansville, there are plenty more activities to dive into this weekend.

OVC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championship

Downtown Evansville once again will transform into the hub of the highly anticipated tournament, this time with the new Division I school University of Southern Indiana participating in the men’s event.

Art in Bloom Cocktail Preview Party
5:30 p.m. Mar. 2
Evansville Museum of Arts, History and Science, 411 S.E. Riverside Drive
See floral arrangements by Tri-State florists inspired by Evansville Museum’s permanent collection a night before the exhibit opens. A guest speaker and awards presentation will take place on March 5 at 2 p.m.

SERIE German Film Festival: Exile
7 p.m. Mar. 2
University of Southern Indiana Wright Administration Building’s Forum I, 8600 University Blvd.
In “Exile,” a chemical engineer faces bullying and harassment in the workplace. This screening is a part of the University of Southern Indiana’s German Film Festival, presented by the World Languages and Cultures department. Each screening includes a brief introduction, English subtitles, and a discussion afterward. Screenings of additional films are scheduled for March 16, March 23, and March 30.

Hairball

Experience lively rock sounds from vocalists Joe Dandy, Kris Vox, and Dave Moody bringing life to Van Halen, Kiss, Motley Crue, Queen, Journey, and Aerosmith. This stage production is for fans of light shows, flames, and screaming fans.

‘80s Party at The Elm
7-10 p.m. Mar. 3

Turn back the clock as you groove to a DJ playing ‘80s favorites dressed in tubular costumes.

Maple Sugarbush Festival and Pancake Breakfast
7 a.m.-1 p.m. Mar. 4-5
Wesselman Woods Nature Preserve, 551 N. Boeke Road
Indulge a pancake breakfast with sausage, orange juice, and coffee at the Maple Sugar Shack. Also, participate in guided hikes into the sugarbush and animal encounters to benefit Wesselman Woods.

Dishes 4 Wishes
6-10 p.m. Mar. 4
Burdette Park Discovery Lodge, 5301 Nurrenbern Road
Sample some of the Tri-State’s finest sweets and savories to benefit Granted, which organizes “wishes” for local children with life-threatening conditions. Meet the “wish” children, dance, bid on auction items, and win prizes.

Southern Indiana Combat Production: The 2nd Coming
7 p.m. Mar. 4
Veterans Memorial Coliseum, 300 Court St.
This action-packed Pro/Am MMA event features will, of course, have fights but also food, special guests, and more.

Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library Annual Spring Mini Book Sale
10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mar. 4; 1-3 p.m. Mar. 5

Peruse a plethora of donated items like books, movies, and CDs, which will be available for purchase at a reduced price to support EVPL.

Pictures with the Easter Bunny
9 a.m.-2 p.m. Mar. 5
Warrick Humane Society, 5722 Vann Road, Newburgh, Indiana
Bring the whole family, including the furry ones, and snap a few photos with the Easter Bunny. Participants will receive 8-10 edited photos emailed to them approximately two weeks after the event. The cost is $25, and all proceeds go to the care of Warrick Humane Society’s rescue pets.

Haynie’s Corner Arts District Spaghetti Bowl Flag Football
3:05 p.m. Mar. 5
Sunset Park, at Riverside and Shawnee drives
Enjoy a flag football game pitting Haynie’s Corner businesses against Main Street businesses — on the field only. For $15 at the door, enjoy spaghetti and a game to benefit Peephole Bar and Grill, which recently was damaged when a car crashed into the much-loved Main Street gathering spot.

Evansville Burger Week
March 5-11
Locations throughout Evansville
