Unusual Objects

The Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library is home to an endless book supply, but have you spotted the newest additions to the library’s offerings?

The “Library of Things” at EVPL Central is a gold mine of ukuleles, roll-up piano keyboards, and soon-to-be-added lawn and sports equipment available for rent. The protocol for renting these items is the same as renting a book; just be sure you have an active library card.

“A lot of libraries have been doing this for a while,” says Experience Supervisor Beth Heil.

Heil says the new additions are important because they enable community members to access items they might not have the ability to purchase. The special section also acts as a test for anyone wanting to try instruments or equipment before buying them.

What new interest might you find? Head down to EVPL Central (200 S.E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.) this summer to view its fascinating new finds and pick up your newest hobby.
