The queen of chicken salad has come to Evansville.
Chicken Salad Chick opened at 1414 Hirschland Road on May 12. Since then, this Southern-based chain has been packed for dine-in, to-go, and drive-thru orders. Of course, we couldn’t miss out on the fun.
We took our lunch break at the new spot, which serves 12 original chicken salad flavors in scoops or sandwiches, with a variety of sides and specialty items. With so many delicious options, it was hard to pick just one — so we picked two.
With the Chick, you can choose a scoop or a sandwich plus a side item for $8.49. The meal includes a pickle spear and small cookie, and all scoops are served on a bed of lettuce with crackers.
Our Chick consisted of a croissant sandwich with Fancy Nancy, a classic chicken salad dressed up with Fuji apples, seedless grapes, and pecans, and a scoop of the Classic Carol, an original recipe of all white meat, shredded chicken, minced celery, mayonnaise, and a secret seasoning.
Both flavors were creamy and full of subtle flavors that blend together harmoniously and taste perfect with either the crunch of crackers or hardiness of a sandwich.
Don’t be a chicken, go try Chicken Salad Chick for yourself. The Evansville location is currently not offering phone or online orders due to short staffing and its lunchtime popularity.
