Funk, Bluegrass, and Walking for Dreams

Music and artistic expression are in the air in Evansville this weekend. See art from across the region at the spring art festival in Haynie’s Corner or chill on the rooftop art deck of the Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana while listening to some smooth bluegrass. Spring Funk in the City

Haynie’s Corner

Celebrate artistic expression at this annual arts festival in Haynie’s Corner, featuring artists from around the region and multiple states. In addition to supporting creators and the art community, there will be food vendors onsite to satisfy your hunger. A portion of the proceeds from the event will be used to promote and preserve the Arts District.

The Roof concert series by the Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana

7 p.m. May 22
Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana, 212 Main St.

Enjoy this free summer performance of bluegrass band Kings Highway from the Arts Council’s Rooftop Art Deck overlooking Main Street in Downtown. Relax on artist-designed furniture for the first performance of this concert series, which runs through the end of September. The performance will last until 10 p.m. All shows are free and open to all ages.

Walking for Dreams benefitting Holly’s House

1 p.m. May 23
421 N.W. Riverside Drive

Support Holly’s House by participating in the 17th Walking for Dreams, an annual fundraising family and pet walk to help Indianapolis and Evansville nonprofit organizations. Attendees can participate virtually or in person on the riverfront starting at the Tropicana Events Plaza. The goal is to raise $15,000, allowing Holly’s House to provide predator prevention education for an additional 1,000 students in local schools.
