The spooky — not scary — fall staple Harvest Nights returned to Newfields in Indianapolis, Indiana, for the third year. The nighttime festival is perfectly frightful for families and adults alike.
Harvest Nights features more than 20,000 Indiana-grown pumpkins, 2,000 of which are jack-o’-lanterns. In the Pumpkin Path of Peril, guests can walk through the foggy forest and admire the intricate carvings.
Additional attractions include the Ghost Train and Mischief Manor — both of which come to life with the power of projection mapping. New this year, Mischief Manor invites guests into the Lilly House for a ghostly party after the Lilly family goes to sleep.
Harvest Nights combines Instagrammable photo opportunities with frightful fun, as Newfields’ campus is covered with decor. It takes tireless work from the facilities and horticulture teams to install everything for the month-long event.
Mattie Wethington, Newfields’ director of communications, says Harvest Nights is a great opportunity to invite people into the historic landmark. She says the event also brings together different vendors and an exchange of creative ideas.
As for those vendors, guests of all ages can enjoy caramel popcorn from Just Pop In! while adults sip on a Campfire Cocoa made with Hotel Tango’s Toasted Marshmallow Bourbon. Other edible treats include cinnamon Bavarian creme churros and a Bavarian pretzel.
Harvest Nights is holding a trick-or-treat event called Art or Treat on the evenings of Oct. 28-29. Guests from Evansville should know that Newfields closes at 5 p.m. and re-opens at 7:30 p.m. for Harvest Nights, so it’s the chance to try out a new restaurant in the Broad Ripple neighborhood before the delightful fright!
