With spring comes the blooming of lush, manicured gardens. That’s why the Southwestern Indiana Master Gardener Association presents the Tour de Fleur 2015 Garden Walk. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 20 and 21, visitors are invited to explore 10 different gardens and the Master Gardener Display Gardens located in Evansville and Newburgh, Indiana, in any order. Each garden has a unique feature.
“The Garden Walk is a very popular event,” says Sharon Giles, the Tour de Fleur 2015 Garden Walk co-chair. “Ideas abound and photos are encouraged. It is a great time to visit with friends in peaceful and beautiful surroundings, and get new ideas for your own garden.”
New to this year’s walk are the fairy houses, each with a different theme. In the display gardens, visitors are encouraged to find the hidden fairy houses created by members of SWIMGA. Guests receive a fan listing the Community Gardens SWIMGA maintains in Evansville and the surrounding areas.
SWIMGA members and local vendors are selling tickets for $15 in advance, and on the day of the event, tickets will be sold for $20 at the gardens. Half of the profit goes to the Vanderburgh Community Foundation Alliance to fund horticulture-related fields of study.
