Meet Denae Raine

Welcome to our staff Q&A! This week, meet Denae Raine, a Benjamin Bosse High School senior and student in Ivy Tech Community Collegeโ€™s Early College partnership with Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation. She is job shadowing the editorial team at Tucker Publishing Group this semester. She is a yearbook club member at Bosse and is exploring a possible career in journalism.

Why did you decide to job shadow Tucker Publishing Group?
I heard about Tucker Publishing Group through my Early College program. I decided to job shadow because I took an interest in journalism, and that experience could help further my skills and knowledge in journalism.

What types of stories are your favorite to write about, and why?
My favorite types of stories to write about are community stories because I get to learn more about the people in my community, what they do, and what is affecting them.

What do you enjoy most about storytelling?
I enjoy the imagery you could put into a story to transform the audience into your story.

Tell us about some of your interests and hobbies.
I am interested in getting to know more about people, reading short stories, and poems. I also have some hobbies like painting and volleyball.

If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go, and why?
I would go to Thailand because when I was younger, I was fascinated by the videos people posted of the beautiful scenery there.

What life experience would you choose to relive, and why?
The life experience I would choose to relive would be going to a SZA concert because I love her music and I was surrounded by my loved ones and friends.
