When John and Sabrina Zeidler’s children reached the ages of 7 and 10, the couple realized Evansville was missing a place for family fun that was safe and offered delicious food. The void prompted their decision with the help of Ken and Karen McNamara to bring Gattitown to Evansville in 2008.
“We would go to places for family fun, but the food was not good and the environment wasn’t safe or clean,” says Sabrina Zeidler, a co-owner and founder of GattiTown, 316 N. Green River Road. “It is our goal to create a healthy restaurant that is not only clean but also safe for families.”
The chain of GattiTown was born in 1964 in Stephenville, Texas, as Gatti’s Pizza. During the 80s and 90s, buffet stores began featuring game rooms, which led to the evolution of GattiTown restaurants. Today, there are 97 restaurants, including GattiTown and delivery/carryout restaurants. Even though GattiTown has more than 106 games, laser tag, bumper cars, and mini-bowling, its focus is in the kitchen with its all-you-can-eat pizza buffet.
“Our pizzas are fresh every 15 minutes,” says Zeidler. “We make fresh dough in house every day, and all natural pizza sauce, which contains no lye or citric acid. We also invest in smoked provolone cheese to get more flavor.”
Along with the pizza buffet, GattiTown has a full salad bar with freshly chopped ingredients, pasta bar, soup station with cooked vegetables, and dessert bar, which is home to its famous Dutch Apple Treat Pizza and Cinnamon Sticks. The restaurant recently began offering curbside pickup.
GattiTown also hosts events from small birthday parties to corporate events.
“We have a holding capacity of 949 people, so we can host very large groups,” says Zeidler. “It is nice because companies host parties here, and families come and go as they please while kids are in and out of the game area.”
