Talent comes in all shapes, sizes, genders, races, and, especially, ages. The youth of Evansville are some of our brightest citizens, with outstanding abilities in arts, sports, and technology. Over the past couple years, Evansville Living has shined a light on some of these young stars. In honor of National Youth Day, we are highlighting a few talented kids we’ve recently featured:
A junior at Castle High School, Wells has a unique hobby of plane spotting that he documents through pictures posted on his Instagram page. His hobby has garnered nearly 900 followers on the account. His favorite spot to capture arrivals and departures? The Evansville Regional Airport!
Reisinger has spent most of her life at the Deaconess Women’s Hospital, where her mom worked for 18 years. The connection helped the 2020 Mater Dei graduate found the hospital’s pet therapy program, which has grown under her guidance.
Orange is a talented eighth grader with a knack for creating exquisite art. With the help of her Art Instructor Cynthia Watson, she’s sold hand-painted cards, canvases, and prints at local markets.
Competing at the highest tier, Stallings serves as the vice president of business for Castle High School’s FIRST Robotics Club and leads her team in building human-sized robots. She also is in charge of giving presentations at competitions, contacting sponsors, and overseeing social media coverage.
A competitive swimmer who at one point was ranked No. 1 in the world in the 100-meter butterfly in the disability class, Jenkins has overcome Proximal Femoral Focal Deficiency to smash all sorts of swimming records. The Reitz High School Senior also recently announced she has committed to swim at Grove City College.
