Only a short drive from Evansville, Louisville, Kentucky, offers those searching for safe, seasonal fun an organic art installation — the Louisville Jack O’Lantern Spectacular.
Hosted by the Louisville Parks Foundation at Iroquois Park from Oct. 1 to Nov. 1, the Jack O’Lantern Spectacular displays more than 5,000 illuminated pumpkins. For the safety of staff and visitors, this year’s event will be drive-thru only from dusk to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and dusk to midnight Friday and Saturday.
“We are so glad we came up with a way to reimagine the event so folks can have something to look forward to and experience in a safe environment,” says Brooke Pardue, president and CEO of the Louisville Parks Foundation.
The theme for the eighth annual Spectacular is “A Hitchhiker’s Guide.” Tickets for the event can be purchased online at jackolanternlouisville.com. Cars, SUVs, and minivans are $35 and passenger vans and limos are $50.
Since its inception, more than $1.5 million has been raised from the event to fund the addition of playgrounds, turf soccer fields, a “Skate Spot,” and many smaller amenities in public parks.
“We think the best part is how universally beloved this event is,” says Pardue. “Folks drive from all over the region to experience Jack O’Lantern Spectacular year after year.”
