Food for Here, Kitchen to Go

As food trucks pick up speed, you can expect to see them at several weekly markets, festivals, and on the road, providing only the freshest fare. Evansville Living caught up with a few around town and tried what they’re bringing to the table. For the most up-to-date status on any of these trucks, find their pages on Facebook.

โ–ฒ The Lunchbox – BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich

Pulled pork, covered in a secret rub, smoked 12-14 hours over hardwood hickory, and topped with sweet homemade barbeque sauce, piles high with pickle and onion between two thick slices of artisan bread.

Whereabouts: The Lunchbox serves up a changing menu at the Evansville Downtown Farmers Market Fridays, the Franklin Street Bazaar Saturdays, and
the St. Mary’s Market Thursdays. They also cater private events, like graduation parties, weddings, and birthdays. 

โ–ฒ The Duffy Shuffle – Fried Avocado Tacos

Slices of smooth green avocado, perfectly crisped at their beer batter exteriors, rest upon beds of fresh mixed greens, hearty tomatoes, and mild onions, all cradled by soft tortillas and drizzled with creamy homemade ranch.

Whereabouts: The red-and-white former bread truck rolls into spots at dozens of local festivals, like the Old Town Sunday Market and ShrinersFest. The Duffy Shuffle also occasionally sets up at the Farm to Truck Market Wednesdays or Carson’s Brewery Fridays.

 

โ–ฒ Chino Taco – Kong Bao Chicken Burrito

Stir-fried with fresh onion and bell pepper, hearty chicken gets its kick from homemade spicy sauce. With the addition of crisp lettuce and sesame seeds, everything rolls into a tortilla, complemented by crunchy crab Rangoon.

Whereabouts: Catch the signature yellow truck at the Evansville Downtown Farmers Market Fridays, the Franklin Street Bazaar Saturdays, and the AT&T Call Center Tuesdays. Wednesdays, Chino Taco is in the parking lot of the Kansas Road Berry Plastics all but one week per month, when they set up on Third Street, between Walnut and Locust streets. They also cater special events Saturday afternoons and Sundays.

 

โ–ฒ Jayson Muñoz Caters – Raspberry Cheesecake Egg Rolls

Rich cheesecake filling and raspberries curl up into an egg roll wrapper, fried until golden and paired with chocolate sauce.

Whereabouts: Muñoz hauls his trailer out to the Evansville Downtown Farmers Market Fridays, the Franklin Street Bazaar Saturdays, and outside SS&C Technologies on Sterling Square Tuesdays. He also caters private events, saying none is too big or too small.
