Get Your 2017 Eclipse Travel Poster

When brainstorming ideas for the Evansville Living July/August 2017 cover, the Great American Eclipse eclipsed them all. As a once-in-a-lifetime experience sure to be remembered for generations to come, the eclipse is more than cover-worthy.

The Evansville Living staff went through many different visions for the cover, but kept coming back to the style of vintage travel posters for national parks like the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Yellowstone National Park, and Grand Canyon National Park. These vintage prints denote something special, something those who have experienced their natural beauty want chronicled.

This issue isn’t any ordinary issue of Evansville Living (though we work to make each issue extraordinary). This is a collector’s issue, a historical and cultural account of an out-of-this-world, cosmic experience. The idea of stylizing the cover to look like a vintage travel poster also was an exciting opportunity to provide the cover as actual posters to our readers, River City residents, and space nerds to purchase as keepsakes.

We called on Corey and Casey Wilkinson — Southern Indiana natives and owners of Wilkinson Brothers, Inc. in Indianapolis — to collaborate with us on a one-of-a-kind design. The end result is an illustration of Eclipse 2017 along the Ohio River.

Posters of our July/August 2017 eclipse cover can be purchased in two sizes:
