River of Dreams

Here’s your chance to weigh in on the future of the Ohio riverfront

It’s time for area residents to share their ideas for how the riverfront in Evansville, as well as in Newburgh and Mount Vernon, Indiana, should be reimagined in the coming years.

Community open houses are scheduled for Thursday morning in Mount Vernon, Thursday afternoon in Newburgh, and Friday afternoon and evening in Evansville. At each event, residents can review and comment on the Ohio River Vision and Strategic Plan, which is developing economic, sustainability, and quality of life opportunities and improvements along the major regional waterway.

At each of the three events, “there will be a variety of tools to gather community feedback,” says Joshua Armstrong, president of the Downtown Evansville Economic Improvement District. “Everything from talking to the consultants to using pins to show one’s favorite places. It’s all very interactive and communicating directly with the consulting team.”

The events are hosted by the Downtown Evansville Economic Improvement District, Evansville Regional Economic Partnership, and lead consultant Sasaki.

The event schedule:

  • 10-11 a.m. Thursday, July 13 at The Landing, 111 E. Water St., Ste. 107, Mount Vernon, Indiana
  • 2-3 p.m. Thursday, July 13 at Honey Moon Coffee Co., 20 W. Water St., Newburgh, Indiana
  • 3-7 p.m. Friday, July 14 at The Pagoda, 401 S.E. Riverside Drive, Evansville

Those unable to attend the meetings can provide feedback online before July 21.
