Chew On This

Azzip Pizza (5225 Pearl Drive) opened a second location on Sept. 19 at 8680 High Pointe Drive in Newburgh, Indiana. Franklin Street Tavern (2126 Franklin St.) opened in early October. The restaurant is formerly an old insurance building just south of Piston’s (2131 Franklin St.). The bar has food available with sports playing on the televisions. Sunshine Juice Co. has opened in Bitterman’s Mini Shoppes & Farmers Market (204 Main St.) The company bottles its own juice from Tri-State grown organic produce. Uptown Event Restaurant (518-520 Main St.) is now open and serves lunch and dinner. It is located at the site of the former Main Gate Sports Bar and Grill. Kitchen Sink Pizza of Evansville (109 Springhaven Drive), formerly The Pour House Restaurant, which opened in 1975, has returned with the same operators and ingredients from the original restaurant.

Nibbles:

Piece of Cake (210 Main St.) now offers breakfast and gourmet coffee options. Open at 7 a.m. Monday through Friday, the restaurant has added new menu items such as bagels, coffee cake, muffins, danishes, cinnamon rolls, scones, and more, and a delicious selection of coffee, tea, frappes, and lattes. Tropicana Evansville (421 Riverside Drive) has recently begun renovations to Cavanaugh’s Steak House in the Riverfront Pavilion. The renovation will include new furnishings, wall coverings, carpeting, and menu changes. Cavanaugh’s will remain open during the renovations. Kerry Chesser, owner of KC’s Time Out Lounge (1121 Washington Square), has purchased the former Bud’s Harley-Davidson location at 2124 W. Franklin St. and plans to use the space for a theme restaurant, bar, and entertainment facility. Construction on the new business could start before the end of the year. Los Bravos Mexican Restaurant is relocating its East Side Evansville location next door to the new VA Outpatient Clinic in Waterford Park Commercial Subdivision off N. Burkhardt Road. Construction began in June and is expected to be completed in March on the 7,500-square-foot structure on a 1.7-acre site. Its previous location at 834 Tutor Lane is too small and offers little parking. The Pub (1348 E. Division St.) has ceased serving lunch since April because of the construction on the U.S. Highway 41 cloverleaf, but stop in for dinner from 4 to 9 p.m. The restaurant is now offering Carne Asada, custom grilling and catering. Wok ‘n Roll (311 S. Green River Road) is expanding to the restaurant next door, which will be the Ice Island Grill. It will serve Hawaiian-style shaved ice and ice cream with toppings and Hawaiian-style foods such as kabobs and grilled items. A deck is being built that can be covered for year-round use. The restaurant should be open by early December.
