With recipes handed down through generations, Yak & Yeti has a goal to serve fresh, healthy, homemade, and authentic food to the Tri-State. Located on the East Side at 815 S. Green River Road, the Himalayan-inspired restaurant offers Nepali dishes with bold delicious flavors both on the menu and from a daily lunch buffet.
The lunch buffet runs from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. seven days a week, and while many tasty meals are offered on the buffet, several customer favorites are found on the menu.
The tandoori chicken is a marinated chicken on a bed of onions, cilantro, and lemon cooked to tender perfection in the tandoor, a traditional clay oven. Also cooked in the tandoor, lamb biryani is the Nepali twist on potpie with lamb, basmati rice, fresh mint, cumin, cinnamon, and homemade marsala covered with naan and served with a refreshing yogurt-based sauce called raita.
Even with multiple mouth-watering items, the traditional Nepali momo is by far the most popular dish on the menu. Chef Bal Gurung says the momo, or dumplings, are his favorite because of the “rich Himalayan spices inside.”
They are made with the spices, marsala, onion, garlic, ginger, and ground chicken. Rolled together in dough, steamed, and served with a homemade tomato and peanut sauce, the traditional momo is a fusion of rich flavor and soft texture.
Yak & Yeti plans to continue improving themselves to best serve their growing customer base. The restaurant has plans to unveil newly designed menus and is always exploring opportunities to connect with the Tri-State.
